MCI / WorldCom
Peachtree Solutions has been developing web-based sales force automation and process streamlining applications for the Marketing Communications division of MCI / WorldCom for a number of years. The solution outlined here focuses on a recent sales force communication project.
Goals:
  • Send a daily HTML email with attachments to the 15,000+ person sales force, split into eight discipline-specific newsletters
  • Automate as much of the manual work done by the editorial staff needed to produce these daily emails
  • Allow the editorial staff to work from multiple locations
  • Create an extensible system that can grow and adapt as the sales force needs change
Solution: Create a web-based "Daily News" news tool that:
  • integrates with MCI's centralized document management system (Documentum)
  • integrates with the MCI / Worldcom intranet secruity infrastructure
  • automates the editorial review process
  • automates the building of the eight separate HTML newsletters based on categorized content in the document management system
  • provides a centralized management system for the eight newsletter lists
  • automates the queuing and sending of the newsletters at a designated date and time
Bottom Line: MCI was able to significantly reduce the man-time and number of employees necessary to produce a timely and effective communication vehicle for their sales force.
